On the Singel canal

This townhouse was built in 1585 and is located at the heart of the historic centre of Amsterdam on the Singel canal near the flower market. The house has retained many original fratures, including a spiral staircase and exposed ceiling beams. A narrow, steeply-winding staircase leads up to the dining room where breakfast is served, with views of the canal and "real" Amsterdam. The red bedroom on the second floor and the blue bedroom on the third floor are ample evidence of Peter's design skills. Each bedroom has a small lounge area overlooking the beautiful neighbouring houses. The bedroom at the rear is separated from the bathroom by a glass wall. In the blue bedroom, the original roof timbers are visible. A small wooden staircase leads up to a roof terrace with superb views over the city, which are particularly good in the early evening. The colours, the furniture, the comfort and the luxury have all been chosen to delight the guests. Wolter is an airline steward and so knows just how to make his guests feel at home; indeed they cannot help being captivated by the warmth of the welcome.

Not far from the Deûle canal and Old Lille, on the corner of two streets, the “Maison Carrée” does not pass unnoticed. It is built in the typical 1920s style with decorative brick friezes, a tall, steeply-pitched roof and a walled garden with a terrace and a swimming pool.
