"The Big House" certainly deserves its name. This large seventeenth-century farmhouse is built around a square courtyard with a dovecote at its centre, in the traditional style of the Pas de Calais region. It has been converted to offer several guest rooms and gites in the various wings of the building. The guest rooms are large and furnished with antique country-style furniture. Behind the house are meadows where donkeys and horses run around, overlooked by a glazed verandah where guests are served breakfast, including fresh-laid eggs and home-made jam. In the farmyard are hens, cockerels, ducks, all sorts of guinea fowl... For, even though the farm is no longer a working farm, Mr & Mrs Boutroy love animals. Donkey rides are available for children. Located a stone's throw from Cap Blanc Nez and the Capes National Park and the Marais d'Opale, "La Grand'Maison" is an ideal base for walks, bicycle rides, horse rides, not to mention surfing and sailboarding. A friendly and convivial establishment which is particularly suitable for families with children and those interested in sports.
