Chateauneuf de Gadagne, France

East of Avignon, at the heart of the village of Chateauneuf de Gadagne, L’Oréliane offers three guest rooms in the farmhouse of an old family-run farm. Set back from the road, it opens onto a courtyard garden, where guests can park their cars in the shade. You will be welcomed in the large lounge and dining room where breakfasts and evening meals are served. To get your mouth watering, there is a small shop selling delicious home-made produce, including jams and almond biscuits. The cool “Muscadine” bedroom is at the rear of the house and overlooks the garden. Upstairs, the ‘’Angevine’’ and ‘’Cardinale’’ bedrooms are prettily decorated in shades of mauve or red and white. Guests can relax in and around the pool and jacuzzi and can book a massage. Your hosts can lend you bicycles to explore the surrounding countryside. It is only a stone’s throw from Avignon, where you can stroll around the old town or watch a play. A little further away are the beautiful valleys and hilltop villages of the Lubéron National Park.

Youri and Florence have travelled around the USA and lived in Manhattan for a while. During their stay, many of their friends and relatives came to visit them and they enjoyed hosting them. So when they returned to Brussels and bought this beautiful house on the Avenue Paul Deschanel, on the edge of the Josaphat Park, they decided to continue receiving guests in a B&B. They have completely renovated their house in a subtle blend of traditional and contemporary styles. They began with the very cosy lounge, with its huge chandelier, its fireplace and its comfortable red sofas. Dar Nejma

Tozeur, Tunisia

Down a narrow street from the medina of Tozeur, a discreet small door gives access to this oasis of calm, coolness and beauty. The shadowy entrance hall opens onto an internal courtyard with a superb pool of green water, surrounded by luxurious vegetation, including a huge date palm. Various lounges and dining rooms painted in shimmering colours open off all sides of the courtyard and offer guests ideal places to eat or relax. Another courtyard is linked to the first by a series of arches, with a shallower pool surrounded by walls of brick and moucharabiehs. Most of the suites can be accessed via external staircases. Each suite has a huge bedroom, a large lounge, a bathroom and a terrace. The décor is surprising, as is the design of the furniture, the choice of colours and the bathroom fittings. The owners have demonstrated their unbridled creativity and daring here, while respecting traditional sub-Saharan colours, Berber craftsmanship, motifs and materials. In addition there are pools heated all year round that can be used for swimming, a superb Turkish bath with a ceiling decorated with stars and a room for massages, which are most welcome after a walk through the medina and its souks or a hike in the desert or through the mountain oases.
