Molenaarsdroom

Antwerpen, Belgium

Greta Stevens offers two beautiful guest bedrooms in her home. The front door leads to an old-fashioned entrance hall with black-and-white slabs of marble on the floor, faux-marble mouldings and walls and antique mirrors. Upstairs on the first floor, the Lilac guest bedroom has a double bed, a bathroom and a breakfast area with a fridge, coffee/tea machine, etc. The breakfast table is laid each evening with pretty porcelain and cloth napkins. Everything else guests will need, including coffee, tea, herbal teas, fresh bread, orange juice, milk, yogurt, jam, cheese and cooked meats is stocked in the fridge. This unusual system allows guests to have breakfast when they like. On the second floor, the “Pancake Beige” guest room is the same as the Lilac room but with two single beds. The walls of the bedrooms and the other rooms in the house are decorated with some of Greta's well-loved collection of contemporary works of art. Recently added to this accommodation is a small studio apartment a few streets away, with a double bed, a lounge area with a sofa-bed, a kitchenette and a bathroom. Guests are always assured of a warm and attentive welcome.

B&B Dieltiens

Brugge, Belgium

Only a hundred yards from the canals and three minutes’ walk from the two main town squares, this Neo-Classical townhouse is home to a family of musicians. Hardly surprising then, that the two guest rooms are named after the first three letters of BACH. “B” is the smallest, decorated in vanilla tones. “A” is done out in shades of grey. All twoo are delightfully charming with their wooden ceilings, warm floors and their nineteenth-century doors. Breakfast is served in the gorgeous dining room, where ancient and contemporary styles merge seamlessly. How could it be otherwise when the paintings by Miro, Alechinsky and Roger Raveel are reflected in a Louis XVI mirror? One final tip: Koen Dieltiens is the organist at St. Walburga’s church, so be sure to follow him there on Sundays if you like organ music…

La Tour

Brugge, Belgium

In the historic centre of Bruges, close to the market square and the canals, is this ravishing tower that was originally built in the zeventeenth century and reorganize as a typical small folly of the times in the eighteenth century. Owned by the same family for the last 200 years, it has recently been restored and converted into a B&B guest suite. The suite is spread over three floors: on the ground floor is a small lounge, on the first floor the bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and on the second floor a charming, light-filled terrace with views over the roof-tops and belfries of Bruges. The colours, fabrics, furniture and ornaments have been chosen with care and create an atmosphere of charm. The tower is located in the garden of the owners' house and has its own terrace with a private entrance from a narrow alleyway. Obviously it is very quiet there! A beautiful place where, what is more, you will be warmly welcomed by top-quality hosts.
