Villa Balat

Namur, Belgium

This beautifully renovated early 19th century villa lies on the banks of the river Maas, with views to the Citadel and the Walloon Parliament. The building is attributed to well-known architect Alphonse Balat, court architect of King Leopold II. This splendid, spacious villa with plenty of natural light and a carefully renovated interior is particularly stylishly decorated using clear, light colours and expertly selected furniture. The three rooms are dedicated to three 19th century Walloon artists: The Anna Boch room is located at the rear of the villa, overlooking the garden. The soft, romantic pastel colours are evocative of the impressionist style of Anna Boch. The Félicien Rops room with a beautiful view over the river Maas is rather mystical, with its restrained colours, alluring velvet and satin and an exuberantly equipped bathroom with free-standing bathtub. The Balat suite with a wonderful glass-covered terrace overlooks the river Maas. The beautiful transgression of light imparts an elegance to the room which, together with its proud peacock colours, is worthy of Balat. The spacious bathroom has a walk-in shower with art nouveau tiles and an authentic free-standing bathtub. Breakfast is served from local produce in the majestic dining room overlooking the river Maas. You are also welcome to relax in the charming library with a cup of tea or coffee or in the quiet, beautifully landscaped garden. The villa is in walking distance from the historic centre of Namur, an excellent city to visit if you are interested in art, history and cultural heritage. A unique guesthouse!
