The "Treasurer's Tower" stands imposingly opposite the abbey in the ancient village of Tournus. It was previously the residence of the abbey's treasurer, hence its name. The guest suite and room are accessed via a spiral staircase in the tower. The "Saône" suite has two bedrooms and a terrace with a jacuzzi overlooking the River Saône. The "Tower" room is on two floors, with its sleeping area under the eaves with superb views over the rooftops. A new, welcoming bedroom is now available on the ground floor, opposite the abbey. If you'd prefer somewhere calmer and less urban, there are the "Orangery" and "Workshop" rooms in an annexe behind the house. The rooms are prettily furnished and decorated and are filled with light and they overlook the garden on one side and a old stone wall on the other. The outdoor jacuzzi can be used in the warmer months. Breakfast is served on tables set out in the lovely entrance hall with its chequerboard marble floor and its monumental staircase, or on the terrace, which overlooks the large, sloping garden, the orangery and the River Saône in the distance. In the evenings, guests can receive a "travellers' tray" accompanied by an excellent wine list. A great spot for an overnight stop while heading to the South of France or from which to discover the culinary, wine-making and cultural heritage of Burgundy.
