La Source des fées

Fuissé, France

The names Pouilly and Fuissé speak for themselves… This is an area famous for its white Burgundy wines, the Maconnais to be precise. This beautiful B&B is located on the La Source des Fées wine estate, in an old stone building surrounded by vines on the outskirts of a village. Philippe, François and Jean-Charles manage the B&B alongside their work in the vineyards: five hectares planted with Chardonnay vines that produce around 15,000 bottles of St Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé and Macon Villages wines each year. The building contains three guest bedrooms and two family suites, spread over two floors. They are spacious, prettily decorated and have beautiful ensuite bathrooms. Guests can also use the lounges on the ground and first floors, as well as the jacuzzi and the garden, where a stream flows from a spring in the Fairy Wood (Bois des fées)! If you are fans of white Burgundy wine, then your hosts can organise a tour of the cellars and a wine tasting for you. In the evenings, Boris takes over the kitchen to prepare simple, tasty meals using excellent local produce. An excellent place to pause on your journey south, or north, which will delight your tastebuds.

L’Ostal en Périgord

Velines , France

Cécile and Philippe finally set down their suitcases here, on the borders of the départements of Gironde, Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne, in 2013. After enjoying many rich experiences on their travels, this delightful couple sold their house in Belgium and set off along the canals of France, looking for a restaurant to buy. Their passionate love for the South-West of France led them to this beautiful former family home near Bergerac, which they converted into their home and B&B. It is a delightful spot, as much for its lovely architecture as for the diverse range of local food and wines. ‘’L’Ostal en Périgord’’ offers its guests a remarkable degree of comfort during their stay. There are two large bedroms (“Montravel” and “Périgord”) and a large suite (“Suite des Anges”) which set the standard to which all B&Bs should aspire, with top-quality bedlinen, lovely bathrooms and beautiful décor, a delightful blend of contemporary style and antique furniture. There are many places to relax in the house and garden. Cécile happily caters to her guests’ every whim and can tell you about her travels around the world and her passions for cooking and interior design, unless you’d rather talk to Philippe about jazz music. Whichever you choose, they both share a desire to share their lovely quality of life with you and it’s a real pleasure to meet them!

La Villa Guidi

Pila-Canale , France

If you would like to stay with a Corsican family from the village of Pila-Canale, then choose the Villa Guidi! This stone house is located on a hillside overlooking the village and mountains and it has been renovated and converted into a B&B by the Habani family, Christian, Manette and Mariana. The B&B offers four rooms and suites and a loft, all furnished with care, each in a different style, but all inspired by Corsican singers and groups (A Filetta, Diana di l’Alba, etc.). They are spacious and comfortable and their bathrooms have beautiful Italian-style showers or baths and each has a terrace overlooking the valley. At breakfast time you will have an opportunity to sample the delicious home-made marmelade, made with oranges from the orchard, and Corsican biscuits. Some evenings, Christian cooks memorable set-menu meals in the greatest secrecy. A magical atmosphere is created by the warm welcome, the dozens of candles buring in every corner of the garden and the prettily laid tables. Dressed in a white apron, Christian brings in food on his trolley prepared with the best fresh local produce from his garden or the village. He is the life and soul of the house, an extraordinary personality. You can admire the trophies he won as a rally driver and also the musical stars who came to eat at his restaurant in Ajaccio. He will talk to you about Corsica, philosophy, or he will seranade you, accompanying his beautiful voice with his guitar. Unforgettable!

Bastide du Clos d’Alari

Saint Antonin duVar, France

This beautiful family farmhouse surrounded by vineyards is the location for a several businesses. In 1998 the Domaine du Clos d’Alari vineyard was launched by a mother and daughter team, and, more recently, the B&B was opened by Nathalie. She has taken care to retain the atmosphere of the family home, and has added a few contemporary-style finishing touches. The bedrooms are simple without unnecessary decorations and brightened with colourful touches. On the second floor is a family suite with a bedroom for parents and a dormitory for up to five children, which looks like something out of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! Guests can also enjoy the large lounge with its open fireplace and the dining room where breakfasts and evening meals are served when it’s not warm enough to serve them on the terrace overlooking the beautiful vineyards. A small earth track leads to the natural swimming pool fed by a spring, hidden from view behind a reed hedge. In addition to wine, the estate also produces olive oil and fresh truffles in season, and they are used to season Nathalie’s delicious evening meals. A delightful address at the heart of ''green'' Provence.

La Ferme des Essarts

Saint-Paul-lès-Romans , France

Lost in the depths of the countryside facing the Vercours mountains, “La Ferme des Essarts” offers a warm welcome. Its pale shingle-and-stucco façade is complemented by soft blue shutters, and its courtyard garden has many delightful spots in which to relax and a beautiful barn which opens onto the bakehouse. There is also a large, convivial dining table and a room where shows and other events regularly take place. And we must not forget the wine-tasting room where Brigitte – who is an œnologist and wine-cellar manager – introduces small groups to her latest favourite artisan wines. After your tasting or show, you can stay the night in one of the guest rooms. The “Orange” and “Rouge” rooms overlook the mountains and share a shower room. The spacious loft apartment has its own entrance and a bedroom with a double bed, a lounge, a kitchen and a shower room, plus two folding single beds. In the evenings, Catherine offers meals prepared with natural produce, including fresh fruit and vegetables from the local market and her kitchen garden. Gelegen langs de Voie Verte fietsroute nr. 63, die Zwitserland verbindt met het Rhônedal via Grenoble, la Ferme des Essarts is een ideale tussenstop op de weg.

This is a region of greenhouses and market gardens. The young Mr & Mrs Defevere have built their B&B onto the side of their parents’ farmhouse. On the ground floor is a large lounge which overlooks bucolic countryside. Guests can use the lounge, dining room, fitted kitchen and huge terrace. On the ground floor are also two of the guest bedrooms, one of which has been adapted for use by reduced-mobility guests. The three other guest bedrooms are upstairs. Le Clos des Raisins

Beblenheim, France

Located at the heart of the Alsace vineyards on the wine circuit, “Le Clos des Raisins” is in the pretty village of Beblenheim, which had retained its old-fashioned charm. After travelling along the village’s narrow winding streets, you pass through a large entrance gateway to reach the farmhouse of what used to be a 17-hectare vineyard, three buildings with beautifully coloured walls built around a pretty courtyard containing some parking places and a small garden. Two of the buildings make up the B&B. The “Yellow” house has a large dining room where breakfast and evening meals are served. Upstairs, the “Muscat” bedroom has a double bed and the “Riesling” bedroom is ideal for families with its double bed and two single beds. Le Clos de la Rose

Saint-Cyr sur Morin, France

This charming former miller's house is more than 200 years old! Véronique and Brendan purchased it recently and decided to continue to offer B&B guest rooms as their predecessors had done. The lounge with an open fireplace and the dining room-cum-library are available for guests to use. They are both very charming rooms, with white-painted beams, a pretty ceramic stove and furniture and ornaments picked up here and there. Upstairs, the two guest rooms are named after roses: "Rose de Meaux" and "Belle de Crécy" and are equally charming. Each has a double bed, a small lounge area and a pretty private bathroom. The "Rose de Provins" cottage is separate from the house with its own private garden and terrace, ensuring complete privacy and autonomy. Domaine de Montaigu

Ambleny, France

This former vineyard-owner's house located on the edge of the village of Ambleny, which used to be surrounded with vineyards, reminds us that the Champagne region is not far away. The beautiful pale-stone building has a fountain, gardens and terrace, as well as several outbuildings, including the old barn which has been re-built with a skylight and today serves as the lounge and dining room of the B&B, where breakfasts are served on a large communal table. A beady eye is kept on the room by the huge hen in a painting by your hostess on the wall. On the ground floor of one of the wings of the house is a guest suite made up of a bedroom and bathroom on the same level as the courtyard. On other floors of the main house are three pretty guest bedrooms decorated and furnished in traditional style. At the rear of the house, a huge suite with two bedrooms overlooks the swimming pool. One bedroom has a double bed, the other two singles, making it ideal for families. Guests can relax in the pretty terraced gardens which overlook the surrounding fields and woods. This is a lovely address, set on the edge of the Compiègne forest and not far from Paris and Rhiems, at which to spend a short, quiet break in the Picardy countryside.
