On the border between the Auvergne and the Périgord regions, the pretty village of Treignac overlooks the River Vézère. The village is surrounded by lovely countryside with forests, lakes and villages, ideal for walking and fishing. Marielle and François will happily take you on a mushroom-gathering expedition there too. The region's superb heritage buildings are also well worth a visit. The "Grandchamp House" has belonged to Marielle's family since the seventeenth century. Its thick stone walls, huge open fireplaces, antique furniture and the many souvenirs picked up on travels around the world create a delightful atmosphere inside. Upstairs, the three guest rooms are all decorated and furnished in different styles: Louis XV, Empire and Troubadour. They are all charming with lively or muted colour schemes and selected furniture. Breakfasts and evening meals are served in the kitchen-dining room near the hearth in the winter, or out on the terrace in the summer. At breakfast, guests can enjoy brioches, buckwheat pancakes, clafoutis, cakes and croissants made by your hostess. She will also happily prepare regional or gastronomic evening meals on request. From the hilltop terrace and garden, guests can enjoy lovely views over the roofs of Treignac.
