Our Findings

A report of our visit. What do we feel about this house. what makes it charming for us ?

Located between Burgundy and the Jura, the mediaeval village of Cuiseaux oozes charm, with its beautiful pale stone houses, its arcaded square, its wash-house and its ramparts. It even has a charming B&B, “La Place des Nobles”, opposite two rows of chestnut trees in a restored and converted eighteenth-century house, completely redecorated and furnished by its very creative owners. Each room is its own special creation, with floor, walls and ceiling all designed and executed by Patrick Trouillet, who also collected the furniture and ornaments, including beautiful wooden sculptures and paintings by his friends. You will not know where to look, there is so much to look at, read or discover. The large living room and open kitchen set the tone with a pizza oven acting as a reminder of the owners’ previous business. The guest rooms and family suite upstairs are similarly very spacious, each accompanied by a private bathroom across the hall or up a small staircase. The colours are warm and traditional and the paintings and ornaments are amusing. The family suite on the second floor is made up of two large bedrooms, one of which has a lounge area and bathroom. Recently named a “Painters Village”, after Puvis de Chavannes and Vuillard, who lived and worked here, Cuiseaux is a fitting location for this B&B.
